Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Plotted ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Plotted is a map-first travel planning application that allows you to plan trips visually on a map, collaborate with others in real-time, and receive AI-assisted planning features. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available."

3. Account Registration

You must sign in with a Google account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information
• Not create accounts for fraudulent or misleading purposes
• Not share your account access with unauthorized third parties
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights
• Upload or share content that is defamatory, obscene, or harmful
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our written permission
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use the Service to collect data about other users without their consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within the Service (trips, activities, comments, packing lists, etc.).

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely as necessary to provide and improve the Service. We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for purposes unrelated to the Service.

When you share a trip with collaborators, you grant those collaborators the ability to view and edit the shared trip content according to their assigned role (viewer, editor, or owner).

6. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including Google Maps, Google Places, Google Calendar, and Anthropic (AI features). Your use of these integrations is subject to those providers' respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.

Place information (hours, ratings, reviews) comes from Google Places and may not always be current. You should independently verify critical details (operating hours, closures) before relying on them for travel plans.

7. AI Features

The Service includes AI-assisted features (morning briefs, gap-fill suggestions, journal entries). These features:

• Are provided for informational and planning convenience only
• May produce inaccurate or incomplete suggestions
• Should not be relied upon as the sole basis for travel decisions
• Use your trip data as context but do not use your data for AI model training

8. Availability and Modifications

We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time
• Perform maintenance that temporarily limits availability
• Update these Terms, with notice posted on this page

We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes to the Service or these Terms.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Plotted and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any).

The Service is a planning tool. We are not responsible for travel disruptions, missed reservations, inaccurate place information, or any real-world consequences of plans made using the Service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plotted and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

11. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Upon deletion:

• Your profile and personal data are deleted immediately
• Trips you own are soft-deleted and permanently removed after 30 days
• You may transfer ownership of shared trips before deletion
• You can export your data before deletion (Settings → Export Data)

We may also terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, with notice where practical.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction in which the operator is established.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
